Hi everyone! I am so excited to announce that

Blobkin Blaster has launched on Steam today!

Woohoo!

A couple of notes:

  • There is a known issue with Virtual Desktop sound. To fix it, please see this post: https://steamcommunity.com/app/996580/discussions/0/1633040337746016228/ . The issue seems to be the way V.D. interprets Oculus devices. We're exploring what we can do on our side, but unfortunately this looks like a V.D. issue. Nonetheless, the link above should help fix it!
  • Pitched controllers/angle is off. I got a few reports of this from users and I'm looking into it. If you have them, please let me know what headset, and if you're using something like Virtual Desktop or Link/Airlink.
  • You may see occasional disconnects using Oculus Airlink on Quest 2. This is a known issue as Oculus' software is in beta. Just a heads up.
  • Windows Mixed Reality, Lenovo and Cosmos headsets are unsupported, but I did program in their controls. If they don't work, please comment or send me an email (hi at bravelunch.com) and lets talk!

A Little Backstory


What started off as a fun experiment for LudumDare Gamejam blossomed into this wonderful experience learning about the underwater world, invasive species and VR.

Like most, the pandemic hit our little business hard (television and themepark graphics), and we found ourselves wondering what we were going to do next? It was not an easy time for anyone, but, we found hope in how much fun we had during the gamejam.

Did I mention my wife got pregnant!?



To celebrate, as best as we could, we took a small trip to Key West and discovered the coral reefs of Florida, I discovered that spearfishermen encourage you to hunt lionfish because they are threatening the native reef fish. Trash, like in all oceans, is also becoming a major problem for the sea life world. But there's hope! Little bacteria are slowly eating away at the plastic trash down below.

Now you can see where this is going.



With no real prospects of new work coming down, I took the team at Theory Studios on a journey that combined my love of the coral reefs, the interesting science that's growing at cleaning up the ocean, and infused it with all that great cartoony animation our studio is known for.

Along the way we decided to start up a new company, Brave Lunch, solely focused on games, and we even recruited some new friends to help us realize Blobkin Blaster.

In fact, I couldn't do it without the help and expertise of these 29 wonderful people, plus one baby manager who ensures no button goes unpressed.

Our game is short. It is hand crafted with love and dedication, with aim to make every moment as sweet as possible. However…

We have a new Boss and Expanded Red Tide (Endless) Mode Coming in September!

There are always things you want to add that can't get in there in time. An amazing cavern with a giant Eel will venture out later next month :)
