FULL UPDATE DETAILS BELOW

Warning : Minor spoilers below. Not recommended to read if you have not started the game.

We’ve introduced a new progression system into Chef RPG know as Prestige. This is a series of goals to unlock through completing restaurant services. By increasing your Prestige Level, you may be awarded additional Power Cells, Recipes, and Skill Points. An additional of 20 Skill Points can be acquired through the current Prestige System. Prestige will be available after completing the soft opening. In the future, as we continue to develop this system, it will likely replace the Reputation System, as the Reputation Score did not provide clear goals or rewards.

You can now contribute Credits and Resources to the town to earn Contribution Points. Completing bulletin tasks will also provide additional points. Contribution points can be spent on upgrading or unlocking various parts of town. Currently, there are 11 town projects available. No More Shabby Floors, and a new early-game quest must be completed to unlock Town Contributions.

The following are some of the available town projects to unlock.

  • Birthday Calendar
  • Barber Shop (New hairstyles available)
  • New Furniture shop
  • New Resource Areas
  • Additional Storage Space

We’ve decided to update the crafting system with some new features. Now, additional characters are able to craft items. Previously, only furniture items could be crafted. Now, rare equipment and tools can also be created via crafting.

Blueprints

Crafting items now require acquiring its corresponding blueprint. Some blueprints will be automatically available, some received after quests, and some blueprints will be acquired though various activities in the game.

Ore Refining

The Furnace has been added to the game. It will allow you to refine Raw Minerals into Metal Plates, which can be used to craft higher level items. The furnace is available after completing a new early-game quest.

Additional Resources

Some new resources have been added to the game for use in crafting.

Completing restaurant services over the course of the game will allow you to unlock various Chef Awards. After meeting the requirements for an Award, you will receive the award by mail the next morning and earn additional Power Cells. More awards will be added in future game updates.

6 New Early to Mid game side-quests have been added to the game. These quests are primarily intended to improve early game pacing, and also introduce players to certain game mechanics like farming and brewing. New features can be unlocked via these quests, including an empty buildable room that can be used for brewing.

A second level has been added to the beach caves, that provide mineral deposits for specific resources. You can unlock the different sections of the caves by contributing resource to the town.

We’ve had many reports of pacing issues, especially around Act 1. Upon further review, the primary cause of this seems to be the gap between Fixing the Fridge, and the Soft Opening Quest, where the player needs to wait several days for the soft opening to fully trigger and complete. We’ve removed several requirements for the Soft Opening, so the quest now triggers much earlier without having to wait several days.

Previously, the beach caves are unlocked in Act 2, in the middle of Thelio’s Stolen Goods quest. We felt this is a bit late. The beach caves are now unlocked in Act 1, after completing No More Shabby Floors. This will allow you to access the mines, crafting, and Town contributions inside Act 1, before the Grand Opening has begun.

New side quests are now available in Act 1 and early Act 2, which will help increase the number of activities and methods of earning money during the early game.

Previously, starting a major restaurant service quest would prevent you from hosting regular services, until the quest is complete. This has been removed. Furthermore, if you have multiple quests / parties available, you can now cycle between all available services.
Previously, declining certain character quests could prevent you from speaking to that character again until accepting. A new “accept quest” button has been added to prevent this.

Storage Changes

The storage UI has been updated and provides sorting and “deposit all” features. Hotel and House storage units have now be combined, so they will all share the same space, no matter which building you are standing in. Additional storage upgrades can be made via Town Contributions, to unlock a third safe in town, and up to an additional 48 storage slots. The maximum number of storage slots you can have is now 136.

Crafting items and contributing resources to the town can now use resources directly from inside your storage, and the items do not need to be inside your inventory.

Collections Tab

The collections tab has been updated, so you can now view the various ingredients, resources, and blueprints, and awards that you have collected. You can also view information regarding your current Prestige level here.

Key Item Tab

A new tab has been added to the inventory panel that holds quest-related items, so that they do not take up storage space. Existing Quest Items will automatically be transferred over to the Key Item inventory.

Note Items

A new item type has been added : Note Items. These will usually be received via quests and will provide the player with information related to the game. Currently, some brewing notes have been added. Upon reading the note, the corresponding Brewing process will be automatically unlocked inside your brewing recipe book.

Various UI Improvements

We’ve also made various improvements to different UIs to improve clarity and readability.

Frier Game

Improved mouse responsiveness and control during. Increased game area for better movement and visibility. Changed the way that dish quality is calculated in this game to better represent the percentage of bubbles hit.

Ice Cream Machine

Improved mouse responsiveness and control, and increased ingredient movement variety. Changed the way that dish quality is calculated in this game to better represent the percentage of ingredients hit.

General

Improved readability and text sizes of tutorials. We will likely update other minigames soon.

Farming

Skill name has now changed to Seed Collector. Access to farming is no longer unlocked via skill, and is unlocked through an early game quest : In Search of Tomatoes (visit Takashi Farms to start). Seed Collector allows animals and plants to drop seeds.

Brewing

Skill name has been changed to Brewmaster. Access to brewing is no longer unlocked via skill. Brewing is now unlocked after completing the new quest : Brewing a Beer, available in the town when ACT 2 has started.
+5% Dish Quality for recipes that use at least one Alcohol ingredient.

Eagle Eyed Shopper

Added ability for increasing the amount of ingredients sold by vendors.

Professional Decorator

Removed décor value only visible after unlocking this skill. Décor value will now always be visible.

We have begun working with an audio designer to improve various sound effects in the game. Various new sounds have been added in this update. More changes will follow soon.

Power Cells

We’ve revisited all Power Cells requirements in game, and better adjusted them to meet the rate that they are obtained (factoring in Prestige and Awards). Power Cells requirements for crafting various items, as well as house, storage, and research facility upgrades have been modified.

Crafting Materials

Resource requirements for all crafting products have been readjusted to balance better with the cost and rarity of materials.

Player Autocook Dish Quality

Base dish quality of Auto cooked player dishes has been increased. Scaling with Cooking level has been decreased.

Staff Dish Quality

Base dish quality of dishes made by staff members have been increased. Bonus dish quality from staff Cooking level has been decreased. This means that the dish quality gap between common and legendary chefs have been decreased.

Dish Price

Dish prices have been adjusted slightly. Prices remain tied to cost of ingredients. However, the base price multiplier has been slightly increased, while bonus multipliers from number of ingredients and Rarity have been slightly decreased. This means that basic, common dishes will sell for slightly more than before, while upgraded or rarer dishes sell for slightly less than before.

We sometimes receive reports of the game not working on certain Mac machines, although we have been unable to reproduce the issue on our own Macs. Currently, your computer may give a warning that it will not run 32 Bit games, but the game will still run in most cases. However, please let us know if the game does not run on your Mac - the model and processor type will be useful information to catch any remaining issues with Mac. Thank you.

With the new update, the balancing of the game has changed. We would love to hear your feedback, or fix any issues you may have. You can also chat with our growing community in our Discord server here:
