Hey everyone, as promised we’re back with one last pre-release update for you. In this post we’re going to be taking a look at end game goals, and how they contribute to your legacy once prohibition ends in 1933.
Establishing your legacy Over the course of a thirteen year campaign, you will work towards completing a variety of goals across four categories:
- Fame
- Connections
- Economy
- Competitors
Let’s explore each of these categories and the goals associated with them:
FamePeople look up to the rich and powerful, and have since the dawn of time. See how your legacy stacks up based on your wealth and power.Grasping the gilded age - Your outfit has the highest net worth of all outfits in the city, after accounting for all cash, assets, and operations.
Enburdened by destiny - Your territory extends as far as the eye can see. At least 30% of the city must be under your control.
Coarse and cunning - Your crew will follow you in whatever you do. At least 7 of your crew members should be at captain level.
Connections The more people you know, the more doors will open to you. See how your legacy stacks up based on your connections and favors.Collector of favors - You’ve mastered the favor economy. Your outfit has at least 15 affiliates: local business owners who owed you many favors over the years.
Player with railroads - Smuggling by rail. You pulled a train depot into your territory, and used it to strike at least one illegal business deal.
Nation’s freight handler - Smuggling by boat. You pulled a longshoremen’s hall into your territory, and used it to strike at least one illegal business deal.
EconomyRuthlessness in business can fund a ritzy and glamorous lifestyle later on. See how your legacy stacks up based on your business success.Producer of alcohols - Your outfit has the most profitable manufacturing. Rankings use the total value of booze produced in the previous month, across all of your operations.
Distributor to the people - Your outfit has the most profitable sales and distribution, such as bootleggers and speakeasies. Rankings use the total value of booze liquidated in the previous month, across all of your properties.
Supplier to the stars - You’ve become an exclusive supplier to a ritzy downtown hotel, which became one of your tied houses.
Bourbon kings (DELUXE EDITION ONLY) - Your outfit has gone local in the hills of Kentucky and has sold 500 cases of bourbon.
Competitors Some say that it is better to be feared than loved. See how your legacy stacks up based on your success in dealing with the competition.Obliterated competition - Competing outfits are few and far between, and will not cause much trouble. At least 50% of the city's outfits have been wiped from the map, through whatever means necessary.
Neutralized hooligans - Corner hooligans fear you. At least 50% of the city's hooligans have been eliminated or made compliant, through whatever means necessary.
Earned the dividends of peace - You never triggered a vendetta with another outfit, such as by killing one of their people.
Ultimately your level of victory in
City of Gangsters is measured by the total number of goals that you meet:
Standard victory: Reach and maintain three of these goals at the end of prohibition, and your name will be well known to anybody who’s anybody. After prohibition you will be set for life as a famous business mogul or community leader.
Legendary victory: Reach and maintain six of these goals, and your wealth and savvy will become the stuff of legends. You will be known forever as the ruler of the city.
Which goals you choose to complete are entirely up to you, and we encourage you to experiment going after different combinations to see how the game changes based on different strategies.
Update: AchievementsWe’re sure many of you will be happy to hear that we’ve added 80 achievements to discover and unlock. Best of luck to completionists among you as some of those are pretty devious!
We also wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for your enthusiasm, ideas, and support throughout the development of
City of Gangsters. We’re really pleased with what we have been able to achieve and can’t wait for you to experience the game yourselves! Following release, we will continue to work on updating the game to ensure that it is the very best that it can be, so please keep your feedback coming in via Discord, Twitter and in the Steam forums (we read everything!).
Bring on Monday.
