Hi all, in only 3 weeks you’ll be able to embark on your first
City of Gangsters campaign! To help you get ready, we thought we’d give you an overview of logistics and how to use the
automated deliveries system to streamline your resource production and distribution. On top of that, we’ll also be talking about vehicle fleet management and composition.
Automating deliveriesDeliveries are customizable, multi-step schedules which proceed automatically every time you advance to the next turn. As your outfit grows, you’ll find deliveries are essential for ensuring a steady supply of ingredients to your production operations, and then distributing your finished booze throughout the city.
Each new delivery needs a crew member and a vehicle. When you’re picking who’s driving, it helps to check out a crew member’s
traits and see how those can be beneficial - like reducing corner heat or boosting customer relationship levels.
Each resource takes up a variable amount of storage capacity so you’ll also need to think about which vehicle type is best for each delivery. For example, a small truck will hold a lot more than a two-door car. So if you’re moving around lots of bulky resources, the truck is the natural choice. Trucks are however more expensive to purchase and you’ll need to acquire the correct crew skills to use them.
Delivery action stepsDeliveries work by linking together action steps. For each step, you’ll have the following actions to choose from:
Buy/sell resources - Select a resource to display any known businesses that trade in it. Then click on an individual business to add it to the step and choose the amounts to buy or sell.
Storage pick up/drop off/ensure cash on hand - Select a resource to display your controlled buildings. Click on a building to add it to the delivery and choose the quantities to pick up or drop off. Ensure cash on hand is a handy shortcut that allows you to pick up set quantities of cash from a building your outfit controls.
Collect from a front - Select this action to display your fronts. Then click on a front to add it to the step. On arrival, your driver will collect all available protection money or pay them if they’re not making enough each month from protection fees.
Managing your vehicle fleetAs you continue to use your vehicles, they’ll wear out. If a vehicle’s condition drops to zero, you won’t be able to load or unload it, so it’s important to keep on top of vehicle maintenance. The city has quite a few mechanics who will repair your cars, trucks or vans for a healthy fee.
By learning additional crew skills, you’ll unlock new types of
backroom operations specifically designed to support the growth and upkeep of your vehicle fleet like garages and truck repair bays. These can be useful additions to your business empire particularly if you are going after the
producer of alcohols and
distributor to the people end game goals within the
economy category.
Once a delivery is up and running you can freely edit and reorder the steps and change crew members and vehicles.
Update: New industrial buildingsYou may have seen in our last update that skyscrapers have been added to the commercial and residential areas of each city map. To complement this we’ve just put in a load of large factory models which will spawn in and around industrial areas.
We’re excited to see the elaborate production chains and networks that you’ll be creating with these tools! So make sure to follow us on
Twitter and join our
Discord to share your screenshots with the rest of the community.
Until next time!
