v8.1.0 has arrived and this time we have a cocktail of improvements!
The big change players will notice right away is that we have a new scoring system! Players should notice some big changes to the scoreboard:
- Score is now split into two categories (Combat & Support)
- All scoring values have been inflated (a kill is now worth 100 points instead of just 1!)
This allows us to award smaller point denominations for other actions (eg. reloading a friendly AT soldiers)
- More scoring events have been added. For example, completing Platoon HQ constructions and placing rally points will now awards a significant amount of points
The code for the scoring system has been completely reworked from the ground up, allowing us to expand it and give it more depth than was possible before. This first release will provide much needed insight on how best to expand it.
Here are some of the other highlights of this release:
[*]All vehicles spawned on Advance maps are now temporary infantry spawn vehicles. Instead of spawning at Main just to watch a transport vehicle drive off, you can spawn directly in that transport vehicle heading out of Main!
[*]Added a Panzerfaust crate for the Axis, which holds 4 Panzerfausts. This is a high-cost item, so don’t miss! (Allied equivalents will be forthcoming)
Increased supply generation rate of main supply cache from 100 to 500 per minute
[*]Reduced the Squad Rally Point placement interval from 60 to 50 seconds
[*]Players attempting to spawn without a Squad in Advance mode will receive a judgemental message recommending that they join one (only once!)
[*]On Putot en Bessin, the south end of Hollis Lane has been fleshed out significantly to give the defenders better fighting positions, making for more interesting battles and a tougher attack for the Axis.
