Last time we wrote, we mentioned we were taking a step back to rethink where the Steam Edition was heading. Today we want to follow up on that and share what's been in the works.

Bridging the Gap
Something we've heard clearly from you is that the Steam Edition has felt disconnected from GeoGuessr on other platforms. We agree, and fixing that is now our main focus. [/p][p]The goal is straightforward: Steam, Web, and iOS/Android should offer the same experience under one account, with the same modes and games across the board. We're actively working toward that.

What we've shipped[/p][p]As part of this, we're introducing a few things to the Steam Edition: [/p]

• [p]Daily Challenge - The shared daily experience that's a staple on other platforms[/p]

• [p]To support cross-platform play, new players will now need to sign up with a GeoGuessr account[/p]

• [p]For our early Steam Pass holders — there's a small thank you gift waiting when you renew your pass[/p][p][/p]

[p]Point Tokens in Ranked Duels[/p][p]This one's for Bronze, Silver, and Gold players. Point Tokens are a new way to boost your points in ranked Duels.[/p][p]Here's how they work: [/p]

• [p]You automatically receive 12 tokens per day — no button to press, but you do need to visit the Duels page for them to be claimed Tokens carry over through the calendar week, but any unused tokens reset at the end of the week Before a ranked game, you can choose to use 0, 2, 4, or 6 tokens.[/p]

• [p]The tokens you use act as a multiplier on the points you earn (win points and round bonuses) from that game Tokens are consumed once a game starts, win or lose. Using no tokens plays out as normal, with a standard 1x multiplier. This adds a layer of strategy to when and how you play your ranked games.[/p][p][/p]

[p]Turbo Mode in Solo Duels[/p][p]We've added Turbo Mode to Solo Duels, available in both ranked and unranked across all divisions. [/p][p]It's always No Move, and your results will count toward your No Move stats. [/p][p]Here's how it works: [/p]

• [p]Rounds are capped at 30 seconds[/p]
• [p]Time after guess is 10 seconds[/p]
• [p]Multipliers apply in 1x increments (instead of the usual 0.5x)[/p]
• [p]Turbo queues separately from Moving, No Move, and NMPZ[/p]
• [p]Fast-paced, fully legitimate Solo Duels. [/p]

[p][/p][p]Turtle Season in Solo Duels[/p][p]A new season has started in Solo Duels themed around World Turtle Day, celebrated at the end of May. [/p][p][/p]
