[p]Hello, geometry people![/p][p]So, it's been… wait,
2 years?? Oh dear. That wasn't supposed to happen.[/p]
when geotra
[p]First, a little accountability: a couple of years ago, I had a few updates planned, but a combination of burnout, other projects vying for my attention, trying to wrap up college, and general mental malaise meant that those plans went right onto the back-burner. [/p][p]
Someday, I would finish them… Surely… Any minute now… [/p][p]Suffice to say, that didn't happen. Any plans to update the game had pretty much gone right out the window. However, this update roadmap defenestration was
definitely not congruent with my implied promise to release more updates. I definitely should've been more upfront with my change in plans for the game. And there's no excuse for that.[/p][p]So with that, I formally (and i guess informally too) apologize for the radio silence in the past couple of years.[/p]
The New Plan Going Forward
[p]That being said, I have a new "main project" I've been working on that I am excited about. This unfortunately means that I probably can't devote all of my time to GEOTRA at the moment. [/p][p]So, with all of that in mind (hope it wasn't too much word salad!), here's the new guideline for GEOTRA in the future: [/p][p]I do not plan to release any new major content for GEOTRA after this update at this time. However, I
do plan on releasing occasional updates that fix bugs, the occasional balance issue, gameplay polish, and other maintenance. And this doesn't mean there will be no more major updates. Just that it's not currently planned.[/p][p]So, enough sad, now we celebrate.[/p]
New Features
[p]First order of business,
the archer class got rebalanced! Again. My attempt at rebalancing archer before was more like a sledgehammer than intended, so the damage has been buffed a bit. Other than that, it's just as cracked as you remember.[/p][p]And this update brings in a new gamemode:
Endless! Here you can play for as long as you like. Technically this feature was already in the game, but it was bugged. The bugs have since been quelled, and the built-in campaign that added an endless mode has been re-enabled and fleshed out. The balance isn't quite where I'd like it to be, but I may touch it later once I see how it plays out.[/p]
Quality of Life
[p]And now… some quality of life features:[/p]
- [p]Buttons and scroll bars glow when you hover over them with the cursor. More feedback![/p]
- [p]Scroll bars can be moved with the mouse wheel.[/p]
[p]and some fun stuff:[/p]
- [p]Added 10 new generic splash texts, and another one for the game's anniversary![/p]
- [p]A particular combo level has fancy new [c]r a i n b o w [/c]text.[/p]
- [p]The upgrade UI got an upgrade of its own, that being the appearance. It should look a bit nicer now.[/p]
- [p]Speaking of looking nicer - the grid background, player, and enemies now have graphics that look nicer at a high resolution.[/p]
- [p]Enabled color interpolation, which should make the edges even smoother.[/p]
[p]There might be some other stuff I forgot to mention, too.[/p][p][/p][p]All things considered, I'm happier with where the game is now. Thank you all for your support for this long, and I hope to see you in the future![/p][p]-Random[/p]
