Hi, I'm Gege, the gamedeveloper of this huge project called Ghost Puncher.
This is the game of my dreams. I have worked on it by myself by years. My favorite game of all times is Guardian Heroes, that I've played with a great friend called Caio by all my teen era (hehehe) and another big inspiration is Little Fighers 2 (the first multiplayer on the same keyboard that I've played) by its creativity and fun gameplay.
Ghost puncher is basically why I've started learning game development in 2012. I remember doing games in which I could learn some stuff about beat'em up, like a sidescroller to learn about colision and damage, and a small concept that looks a lot like Zelda 2 to make some small battle system, and none of them was a good game, but they were a path to bring me here ːsteamhappyː. I've started with stencyl, a 2D engine, to learn about programming logic, and then I moved to Unity and got a lot of freelances, so I could still learn about gamedev and coding, and kept doing my small games.
My first game here on steam was Monsters Mall. It was kind of a leap of faith to learn how to do a game and try to sell it on steam. That was pretty huge in my head: the first sellings and some mixed reviews made me think about what I was doing, and someday I will go back and upgrade that game, but by now I'm planning to build a huge game, with Story Mode and 'food system' (for stamina in battle), training system to upgrade you character, sleep and even with sidequests and dungeons (like those in persona, that is a hospital or a huge abandoned building).
One thing that I'd like to do is to bring that "mechanic" from Guardian Heroes, which is: EVERY character in game is playable (I think that just the plants in GH weren't cause they don't walk) and even citizens were playable, I think this kind of mechanic is AMAZING!) And there's another reference with smaller impact that is Hot Blood for Snes, that the player can attack some pedestrians on street, and sometimes they just engage in fight, that was so awesome! Well, im putting my soul on this game. It will start by 0.1 with 9 characters and a simple park background, but I want to bring a lot of places, and a lot of monsters to be playable and to be enemies in story mode.
I will develop some ideas that I have in mind to bring those mechanics to a lot of characters.
This first 0.1 will bring 9 characters, but when I first launch the story mode this will change. I want the player to have a book with the cards of all enemies, every one of them that you defeat at story mode will bring to other modes and even to a story mode+, so the players can try to beat the game with ANY character of this game, even the weaker one (maybe a citizen, maybe a small ghost).
Well, this is the game of my LIFE, so the idea is to work on it for years. I want to bring fusion (lf2 style) of some characters, some transformations (kinda Super Sonic/Dragon Ball style), cool bosses with diferent styles that transform too.
The only part that I have been helped right now is the music of this game, that has been made by a great friend of mine since school time, called Celso. He will keep doing the music kinda Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit and those references style. My work will be everything else, code, concept art, ingame art, etc…
Already finishing the first version of game. It will come with versus mode with some characters, not too much done but already a start to feel the game, other options will come on menu with explanation of gameplay styles.
