GifPal v2.1 Update

[p]This update focuses on a smoother startup experience, more reliable snapping on modern Windows setups, and a batch of DPI and taskbar fixes for desktop pets.[/p][p][/p]

New

  • [p]Added an animated splash screen on startup with a neon logo and a visible loading progress bar[/p]
  • [p]Added physics mode so pets react to mouse interactions with realistic physics behavior[/p]
  • [p]Added gallery feature to browse and manage your GIF collection more easily[/p]
  • [p]Reworked the window snapping system so pets snap more smoothly to screen edges and detected windows[/p]
  • [p]Improved DPI scaling on single‑monitor setups so layout and pet position adjust instantly when changing Windows display scaling (100%–200%) without restarting the app[/p]
[p][/p]

Improvements

  • [p]Upgraded taskbar detection with a multi‑layer system for more accurate pet positioning, including better support for auto‑hide taskbars and fullscreen applications[/p]
  • [p]Tuned platform handling for Windows 10 and 11, adjusting behavior based on system features while using fewer background resources[/p]
[p][/p]

Fixes

  • [p]Fixed pet/window position sometimes being lost on single‑monitor setups after DPI changes[/p]
  • [p]Resolved several Qt6 DPI scaling conflicts and incorrect window border calculations at different scaling values[/p]
  • [p]Fixed cases where the pet could hide under the taskbar in fullscreen games and addressed invisible border issues on Windows 11 25H2[/p][p][/p]

Known Limitations

  • [p]Multi‑monitor setups with different DPI scaling values are still not fully supported. GifPal works best on a single monitor, or on multiple monitors that all use the same scaling[/p]
  • [p]Windows 11 offers the most stable experience; some DPI‑related features may behave differently on older Windows 10 builds[/p]
[p][/p]

Future Work

[p align="start"]Ongoing work on full multi‑monitor DPI support, better behavior on older Windows 10 versions, and a few extra performance and stability tweaks.[/p][p][/p]
[p align="start"]Note: All existing GIFs and settings are kept; updating will not reset your current setup.[/p]
