Thank you to everyone enjoyingthe game and leaving positive feedback! Thanks also to all those who have reported bugs to me. I'm glad to say there have been no major bug reports for quite a while now, so I'm able to turn to some of the less pressing fixes and balances.
The following are the changes in the last 24 hours. Some have only just been uploaded, some were uploaded a while ago but not announced.
Gameplay / Balance changes- Gave the AI some (not much) greater unpredictability on fighter choice. It will sometimes now pick fighters based on attibutes other than just total current ability. It may also sometimes throw in youngsters or weaker fighters for experience gain / cannon fodder reasons. It will not (yet) try to outguess your selection so you can still have a good go and trying to out class advantage the enemy. More AI selection intelligence planned.
- Adjusted experience gains to increase the gains when injuring or taking out an enemy, and to reduce the amount gained when losing. N.B. Intelligence is still a MAJOR factor determining battle experience. A low intelligence fighter may get to the top perks only very slowly whereas a super smart one could get there twice as fast as average.
- Battle training gains are now linked to experience gained in battle. Low experience will cap the gain, while high exp (>250) will yield a +1 boost to the gain. The chance of a gain triggering remains mainly tied to fighter intelligence – so that remains a key stat for long-term development alongside workethic.
- Set a minimum of 20 damage to armour for combination finisher moves to make them more satisfying and avoid the damp squib feeling when they only did 6 damage.
- Added a "stagger" effect whereby a fighter suffering a flesh wound of 30 pts or more will lose control to reflect the effect of the blow.
Fixes- Fixed the temproary "Mithrys Nightingale" bug - this was only in existence for about an hour.
- The injury table now correctly displays in the barracks when selecting an injured gladiator from the roster table.
- Fixed a bug that preventing enemy fighters from levelling up until they had played a further fight after gaining the necessary experience.
- Fixed a bug preventing battle training gains (only in existence for a few hours between two patches).
- Roster and selection tables can now be sorted by W/L and contract length
- Fixed a bug that ended the combination move despite a successful defence which sometimes occurred when being flanked.
