Early Access +1 Day - Patch Notes

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the feedback and support! Godking has a growing and already amazing community, and we are having a lot of fun talking to you about the game. We are getting great ideas and suggestions, and we are blown away by how fast so many of you are picking up on the strategies and calculations involved in playing the game, and already coming up with new strategies and ways to play.

Godking has been live for just over 24 hours, but so far so good! There have been no full crashes reported so far, and the issues found are not keeping anyone from playing the game.

Our immediate attention is on getting reported issues fixed, so the game plays as smooth as it can. This includes a continued effort to optimize so it runs better - especially on older hardware. Next step is expanding on content and continuing improving the AI, so it becomes an increasingly challenging opponent, capable of giving even veteran players a tough fight.

Some of the next AI steps are teaching it how to use some of the more advanced ritual spells, teaching it to respond better to a full invade, teaching it how to panic defend when panic is the appropriate response - and we are debating whether we should let the AI “see” treasure chests again. We have tried it before, and it tended to give them nasty armies too soon!

We are excited about our plans for the AI moving forward. We have built fantastic tools that let us closely observe everything it does, and the reasoning and strategizing behind it. We believe this observer mode will help us train it to expert levels within a relatively short time frame. It is already entertaining to sit back and watch it play on its own, so we have talked about making this an actual feature at one point.

Much to do, but we are FINALLY on the way. We are super pumped, and will keep the patches and updates coming.

General
  • Added a fade out/fade in to summoning visualization and when inspecting (double left clicking) a tile. This makes both sequences feel smoother.
  • Added credits screen to the main menu, with shoutouts to members of the community for all their help. Thanks a ton guys! We will keep immortalizing you all in tiny places all around the game, as we really enjoy doing that

Fixes
  • Fixed an issue where buying the first Khaoset holding upgrade would misalign parts of the holding ui. This was an issue that fixed itself next time you opened the same ui, but Khaoset wasn’t amused
  • Fixed an issue where skipping to the end of a battle [Q] during the exact moment a damage calculation was being made, could cause an exception and make the log window appear. This did not break the game, and hitting Clear would close the window and resume the game as normal
  • Fixed an issue where equipping an artifact on a unit, could sometimes accidentally replace another artifact, causing that item to be lost
