An Important Update on GoreBox Multiplayer
After years of fighting to keep GoreBox multiplayer safe, we have officially made the decision to remove it entirely. We spent a long time battling exploiters, patching vulnerabilities, rebuilding systems, and doing everything in our power to protect the experience for legitimate players. Every time we closed one door, another was kicked open. We delayed this decision for as long as we possibly could, but eventually we reached a point where there was simply nothing left to do.
The vulnerabilities uncovered and exploited over the course of these attacks ran too deep to fix without switching to an entirely different networking model, and even if the attacks were to stop, it would only be a matter of time before someone else picked up where they left off.
To be transparent: this consumed everything. Over the past months, exploiters, bot raids, and security vulnerabilities forced us to shift our entire development focus away from content and bug fixes toward keeping multiplayer functional and secure. Development of actual content and bug fixes took a back seat for longer than we would have liked, and we appreciate your patience through that period.
What's next for GoreBox?
With multiplayer and attacks out of the picture, we are now going full force on what matters most: fixing bugs, improving gameplay, and expanding the modding tools. On top of that, we are working toward a proper singleplayer experience, potentially including a campaign that finally brings the GoreBox lore to life.
Thank you to everyone who played, caused chaos, and made memories in GoreBox multiplayer. It was something special.
