Demo Update 0.5.0

Hello there,

In this patch you’ll find a large rework of the evil hex system, the addition of demons, and a new combat system. In my head this is only version 1 of combat. I have a long list of things I still need to add, but I wanted to release this patch now so I can fix any bugs in the core of combat and get feedback from you on the UI and UX for combat.

In the next patch my plan is to add in items which you’ll be able to equip to your villagers. My goal for items is to allow you to specialize your villagers into combat, support, or resource gathering. More to come soon.

Please let me know if you have any ideas or questions. In my head combat is going to be the system which will take Hexagod from a good game to a great game.. or it could ruin the fun entirely, but let’s not let that happen.

Demo 0.5.0 Patch Notes:


Combat:

  • Villagers and Demon both have health, attack damage (min, max, flat added), and attack speed
  • The units stats will show on a tooltip which appears when you hover over the unit (tooltip is a work in progress)
  • When in combat the unit will attack it’s target based on it’s attack speed (think of this like a cooldown)
  • The damage value is rolled between the min attack damage and the max attack damage
  • The damage can also have a flat amount added
  • In the next few patches I plan to add items to units which can increase the stats or grant damage mitigation, or even special effects

Evil Hex Rework

Other Changes

  • Packs can no longer have duplicate cards
  • “The Village Must Grow” pack will now have a guaranteed Villager and Hut card in the first two pack.
  • Increased the weight increase for cards that are not picked in the pack generation
  • Adjusted the pack costs and card favor gained on sacrificing to prevent the player from “going infinite” on favor from sacrificing all the cards in a pack
  • The text for # Undiscovered cards will now show as red in the shop UI
  • Added the time it takes to work a building (cards and tile tooltip)
  • Adjusted the text size for cards
  • Fixed an issue where placing a building on a tile would select a villager
  • Fixed an issue where assigning a villager to a tile could select a villager that was walking though the tile
  • Updated the UI for Cards in Hand so all the text is red when you are at max hand size
  • Updated the UI for Villager Count vs Housing so all the text is red when you have too many villager for the amount of housing you have
  • Updated the UI for Food Cost so all the text is red when you do not have enough food to feed all your villagers
  • Tooltip for Play | Pause will now show the hotkey of space bar
  • Resource tooltips will now show in all caps
  • Cloud will now fade out to the background color towards the edge of the screen
