Build Notes for Version v 0.02.74
NOTE: A Sensor is NOT Required. You do
NOT need a biofeedback sensor to play
Nevermind. Without a sensor, the biofeedback-specific features will be unavailable, but the core game itself will be fully functional.
Updates:- New Feature: Localized Languages! (beta) Nevermind now has beta support for ten new languages: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Russian. Languages can be set in the Nevermind options menu. If you notice any errors in translation, please let us know via the Steam Community Page Discussions.
- New Feature: Partial Controller Support! Nevermind now supports a standard Microsoft Xbox USB controller. Although you will still need to use a keyboard and mouse to enter your name during the initial registration process, after that point, the rest of the game can be played entirely with an Xbox Controller. We are still looking into expanding the range of controllers that Nevermind will support.
- New Feature: Neuromapping! After the memory of a traumatic experience has been released, return to the client’s mindscape to explore and find additional information relevant to the trauma. The Neuromapping feature can be accessed through the “Advanced Neuroprobing” option in the Client Selection Screen.
- New Content: New Voiceover Audio! New professional voiceover audio is now available in the IntroSim level (both the Client and Guide).
- New Content: Handbook! All Handbook Text (accessed via the Office Computer or the Pause Menu) is in a more fully realized state.
- Update: Fear Static! In an effort to find the perfect balance for the “fear static,” we have been experimenting with different visual representations. This build features a drastically different visual style for the static. Let us know what you think!
- Update: Unity 5 Upgrade! We have upgraded to Unity 5 and have been continuing to iterate on existing content. As such, visual improvements can be found throughout the game.
- Update: IntroSim! “TrainSim” level is now called “IntroSim” to better reflect its purpose as an introductory, simulated client.
- Key bug fix: Entering into fullscreen mode in the Mac version no longer causes a crash. We are also optimistic that many of the Mac OS Yosemite issues have since been resolved.
- Update: Player Feedback! We’ve been listening very carefully to your feedback. Improvements based on your thoughts and experiences have been made to art and gameplay throughout the entire game (the changes are too numerous to mention!). Thank you so much for helping to make Nevermind even better!
Notes and Disclaimers:- Nevermind is an Early Access game: Nevermind is still in development and you may experience bugs or performance issues that we will continue to iron out as development continues. All content is still a work-in-progress and additional content will be added in the coming months. If you have feedback, please let us know via the Steam Community Page Discussions.
- Bug alert: Neuromapping - We have found that some users are unable to trigger Neuromapping functionality. We are looking into the issue and will post an update as soon as it is fixed.
- Windows 7 Support: Nevermind is playable on Windows 7, although it is not yet fully supported. Windows 7 users may experience some instability. ANT+ and Bluetooth sensor devices will not work on Win7.
- Mio LINK Users: Bluetooth connectivity currently works only on Windows 8. At this time, the Mio Link is the only sensor that uses Bluetooth connectivity. To pair a Mio LINK with a Windows 7 machine, please use an ANT+ USB stick.
- Companion App: To support non-RealSense heart rate devices (e.g. The Mio, The Garmin Chest Strap, etc.) on Windows 8 and 8.1 environments, Nevermind makes use of a small companion app called the Nevermind Heartrate Companion. This companion application is opened and closed by the game, and can be found as a taskbar icon next to the clock during play. This companion application uses network protocols to communicate with Nevermind. Because of this, the companion app may cause a security warning on Windows 8 and/or some anti-virus software. We assure you this companion app is completely safe, and you can allow it access to the system's network. There are currently no plans or means to support Bluetooth or ANT+ heart rate devices on Windows 7. OS X support is planned for a future early access update.
- Companion App Known Issue: There is a small known issue where the Nevermind Heartrate Companion will sometimes not quit along with Nevermind, due to a failure in network communication between the two applications. If this occurs, you can close the companion application manually by right-clicking on its taskbar icon and selecting "Quit" from the context menu.
- Bug alert: Performance - Performance may be particularly laggy on machines that run closer to our min specs. We will be continuing our ongoing optimization efforts and intend for future builds to run much more smoothly.
- Bug alert: Graphic Anomalies - Upgrading to Unity 5 has enabled us to make many visual improvements. However, with the upgrade we’ve also experienced some glitches in the graphics. We’re working on fixing them and should have most resolved for the next major update.
- New Level Coming Soon: Only the IntroSim and Client #251 levels are available at this time. Client #418 will be available in the coming weeks.
- Fear UI: To see an on-screen indicator of your “fear/anxiety level,” go into the Options menu and select “Fear UI On.” (note: option only appears if playing with a supported biofeedback sensor).
- First Person Control Familiarity: Nevermind uses standard “first person” controls (WASD/arrows and mouse). Familiarity with this control scheme is recommended.
