Patch 0.8.5 - Enemy Intent, more card usage

Enemy intent


  • Enemies will now pick an ability they plan to do next, which is shown above their head.
  • Enemies can no longer crit and enemy damage is now a fixed number shown above their head.
  • An enemy will decide to move instead when out of range.
  • Lots of changes to which abilities enemies can use.
  • Enemies no longer use cards to modify their abilities.




New Abilities


  • Bubble Beam (Mind + Water)
  • Regeneration (Life + Water)
  • Throwing Stars (Range + Dark)
  • Shroud (Reflect + Dark)

New card uses


  • NATURE: Can now be used to grow nature.
  • DARK: Can now be used to kill nature or grow mushrooms.
  • POISON: Can now be used to kill nature.
  • RUIN: Can now be used to destroy almost anything.
  • SPIRIT: Can now be used to possess nature and create enemies.
  • FATE: Can now be used to re-roll altars, cards, and relics laying on the floor.
  • REFLECTION: Can now be used to duplicate movable objects and cards laying on the floor.

Other changes


  • A final boss room will now spawn for the Great Giant campaign once other levels are completed. (The boss itself is not finished however.)
  • Plains biome has been updated.
  • Heal can now be cast outside of combat.
  • Tutorial is now separated from the game, sending you to character select once completed.
  • Rabbit hole shimmers when an item is hidden inside.
  • Balloons have been improved.

Visuals & Sound


  • Card borders have gotten a visual overhaul.
  • Improved some of the card and ability icons.
  • Improved visuals for jumping ledges.
  • New visuals for Puzzle shrooms.
  • Ability level is shown as a roman numeral in ability names.
  • Completion stars that hover over enemies are slightly more visible.
  • Better tiling for dirt and hot cobble tiles.



Bug Fixes


  • Fixed a bunch of bugs related to stacking cards.
  • Fixed a saving error where amount of stacked cards was not stored correctly.
  • Fixed a saving error where poison fields turned into fire fields when reloading save.
  • Fixed an input issue when dragging cards to the backpack or deck icon.
  • Fixed a rare level generation issue, that would not spawn in a card room for one of the blockades.
  • Fixed a bug where main ability could be used, despite not being a basic ability.
  • Fixed a bug where clicking certain tiles a large creature is standing on, would not select it.
  • Fixed a bug where the AI for a large creature could not path around an obstacle.
  • Fixed two bugs where creatures could knockback themselves, and where knockback could cause large creatures to glitch.
  • Fixed a bug where the Forget relic would not restore ability charges.
  • Fixed a bug related to fishing.
  • Fixed a bug where frogs could get stuck standing still.
  • Fixed a visual+sound bug caused when pushing objects into thorns.
  • Fixed a visual bug when adding cards to abilities in combat.
  • Fixed a visual bug for water reflection in the overworld.
  • Fixed a visual bug where particles were sometimes quadrupled.
  • Fixed a visual bug where vertical momentum was lost when falling down after jumping from a jumping pad.
  • Fixed a sound bug where pushing a fallen log would not play sound.
