Patch 0.9.0 - 17 new relics, Combat rework & more!

Combat rework



  • Character turn order and initiative was removed and replaced with party turn order.
  • Hero party goes first, then alternates between enemies and heroes.
  • Player can click to switch between active heroes.
  • 3 cards are now redrawn each turn. (old cards go back to deck)
  • Many cards can be used on your heroes directly, without using their action.
  • Armor was added. Many abilities now generate armor.
  • Armor prevents 1 damage taken per armor and is removed at start of turn.
  • Cover grants 10 armor when ending behind it and out of sight of enemies.
  • Damage increase status grants +1 damage for rest of combat. Granted by many relics and abilities.
  • Chance to act earlier in turn order (hurried) was replaced with chance to get an extra turn.
  • Combat blocks can crack and then be destroyed by receiving damage.

Relic options


  • Relic chests are bigger chests that replace the guaranteed relic pedestal.
  • Relic chests also spawn when defeating the boss.
  • Relic chests offer you the choice of two relics to pick.
  • Unopened Relic chests remain marked on the map.


Gameplay


  • Mirror puzzles are added to the plains.
  • Statue puzzles and Poisonbulbs have been added to swamps.
  • Puzzleshrooms have been added to forests.
  • Many new rooms added to Swamps, Plains and Forests.
  • Barrels and crates now float in water when pushed.
  • Water card can be used to fill pit tile with water.
  • Slightly reduced amount of coins spawned in level.



Other changes


  • Added AZERTY and QWERTZ keyboard support.
  • Slimes have reduced health.
  • Upgraded main abilities now consider the 6 mana cost reduction for main abilities before applying the 50% mana cost increase. This is so that an upgraded light ray will remain costing 0 mana for the Priest.
  • Evasion ability now only grants evasion status to self.
  • Used up relics are now removed.
  • Compass relic reworked to now reveal chests and secrets on map.
  • Luck stat was expanded.
  • Old blinded effect where you cannot aim properly is now part of Confused. New blinded effect reduces damage dealt by 5.
  • Snared, Panicked and Wet status effects have been implemented.


UI


  • Improved tutorial and added texts and icons for keybinds.
  • Card to be used is highlighted when standing in a blocked room.
  • Added many new cursors for skills such as Alert, Ranged shot, Defending, etc.
  • Aimed casting of main ability is now a toggle.
  • Added cards to the deck are not locked until combat starts.
  • Level up indicator is now clickable.
  • Title screen buttons visually updated.
  • Level completion sound and message.



Other Visuals


  • Mountains are visually updated.
  • Tiles no longer stick out from underneath blocks.
  • Better visuals for hero attribute flower when reaching the max of 10.
  • Chests are visually updated, and change visuals depending on the biome.
  • More stumps and flower designs.
  • Quickgrowth and jelly cubes are now more visible.
  • Grass now has a visual after being cut down.
  • Pushables destroy grass they move over.
  • Fence gates are redesigned.


Bugfixes


  • Fixed a crash related to using air cards on wind mills.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when creature dies during its own turn (e.g. by fire/poison).
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when resizing screen at the encyclopedia UI.
  • Fixed a memory leak and rare game freeze related to the copying and generation of grass textures.
  • Fixed a framerate issue that would occur when holding down the mouse at a far unreachable area.
  • Fixed a bug where player profile was not created after tutorial was completed.
  • Fixed a bug where adding mouse controls for pushables accidentally removed grip functionality for keyboard.
  • Fixed a bug where getting hit as Arcanist with resolve would still cause mana loss.
  • Fixed a bug where Morph relic could transform an ability into the same ability.
  • Fixed a bug where a volcano in the overworld could be wrongly defined as a green hills level.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed players to re-enter completed levels.
  • Fixed a bug where enemies, mostly in the swamp biome, could walk into the water.
  • Fixed a bug where enemy in combat was stuck trying to move into ally's square.
  • Fixed a bug where a cloud platform could cause falling.
  • Fixed a bug where wood could be placed on occupied tiles.
  • Fixed a bug with the AI for large creature pathfinding.
  • Fixed a visual bug where torches were hidden.
  • Fixed a visual bug where the wrong cursor in combat was shown.
  • Fixed a sound bug where card draw sound was played when deck is empty.
  • Fixed various visual bugs related to fonts and changing texts.
  • Fixed a visual bug where "start in game" could cause screen to blacken when resizing.
