Spellfarers Developer Update - December 2024
The year is coming to a close, so it's time for one more Spellfarers Developer Update!
If you haven't checked in on Spellfarers development in a while, here's a quick update on some of the larger feature updates:
-Revamped progression and homestead upgrades
-Backpack and Tool Belt upgrades
-Fishing rework
-Much, much more
We've had some more major updates lately between updates to fishing, progression, and land expansion; including this week's Tool Belt addition and mining/treecutting changes. We're now comfortably approaching the end of Phase 1 on our development roadmap:
https://steamcommunity.com/app/1569420/discussions/0/4522261213601974336/Minor economy updates are always possible in the future, but we're pretty happy with the overall state of the in-game economy at present. There are still some additional things in the works for the Phase 1 component of storage upgrades and expansions, but soon enough we'll be moving onto Phase 2: Fun and Functionality.
Phase 2 will make things feel a lot livelier in the town of Wenngrove, adding much more animation to the residents and their daily schedules, polish, a new character in Hannan, and more. We'll also focus more on iterating and polishing the menu and UI systems during this time to achieve full controller support in addition to mouse and keyboard.
The pace of updates will naturally slow down later into December as the holiday season approaches, but we're not done for the year just yet!
Thanks for continuing to follow along during our Early Access development! We look forward to making even bigger strides in the new year and working towards the Spellfarers 1.0 release in 2025.
