Next update: When the river runs deep
Next week, we will release a new patch, named When the river runs deep, which will add exclusive content for Steel Division: Normandy 44 and integrate several gameplay changes that we felt appropriate, a work done with the help of players from the community. We hope that you will like these improvements. As usual, we want to give you a glimpse of the innovations that the update will provide, a few days in advance.
In this third major patch, you will be able to play on a new variant of Odon. The map will be available in Skirmish and Multiplayer in both 1v1 and 2v2/3v3 matches.
On this battlefield, the topography will be even more significant. Indeed, the Odon river is at the center of the map in the 1v1 variant, with only three bridges to cross it. This situation should ring a bell for those who have succeeded the second mission of the UK campaign… If you want to play with one or two comrades, be prepared to fight on both sides of the river. Help each other will be a difficult task. As you can guess, the amphibious units will be very useful.
With this patch, all the variants, including Carpiquet and Sainte-Mère-Eglise from The Duellists patch, as well as several infantry units, will receive some new thumbnails.
As our own Madmat already “revealed” this thumbnail on our forums, we had to give you a glimpse of it as well.
On the other hand, we decided to work on a number of adjustments to the meta. Some of the changes were requested by the community like for example rethink the strength of flamethrowers. Nevertheless, we didn’t want to release these modifications without giving some players a try. That’s why we set a testing period in place and invited several players, some of them that you may very well know, to help us improve the balancing. Indeed, we took into account their remarks in real time, and it was a good experience on our side.
It seemed important to us to make a more general balance update before going into the detail of each one of the divisions. Indeed, the update will impact the gameplay and by extent the balance between divisions themselves. We preferred to work step by step, take our time and not rush the balancing. We can assure you that balancing the divisions will come soon.
Finally, the patch will also include bug fixing and solve remaining crashes that players, unfortunately, could experience. We are still very vigilant through our customer support and the forums.
Stay tuned for more information!
