It's the 21st of July and the time is here to finally launch "The Best BJ"!

Within the coming hours after launch, the global list of the users who have the highest balances in this game as well as any Steam friends you have who own this game will be posted right on your game screen! Build up your balance as much as you can because it will soon be available for all to see, especially if you happen to have one of the highest balances in the game!

I want to go ahead and also take this chance to talk about a couple of new things I've added to "The Best BJ" in the past few days…

THE KARMA SYSTEM:

So every balance saved will have a number tied to it as a decimal after your game balance dollar value. It will look like cents on the high score list such as $320.95. This will actually be a $320 game balance and the 95 will refer to the players karma on a scale of 0 to 99.

Karma is a system I created to help players who lose all their starting $500 in game balance and stay stuck at a negative or very low balance for over five minutes. The game will present the player with an option, often humorous, to do an imaginary deed in exchange for a small amount of in game money to help them get back in their feet. Different deeds accepted will have different levels of karma loss associated with acceptance of the money. Karma is shown as a red number on the screen just to the left of your game dollar balance. The only way to earn back lost karma is to play the game (or keep it running) and 1 point of karma will be regained every 30 minutes of real time.

CHEATER PROTECTION:

A problem with indie games such as this one is that often it is way too easy for someone to simply change a value on their local game save file and give themselves a million points or perhaps a million dollars in a game like this one!

To prevent that, I've added random encryption every time the game saves (several times per hand):


I hope that will help ensure that the leader boards in "The Best BJ" aren't just cheaters. I will monitor this game and make changes and improvements as needed!
