Patch version 0.2.26b (beta branch)

This beta branch patch has some balance updates related to suggestions we have been discussing with players, some updates we want to get feedback on prior to the release of Act 3, as well as a few bug fixes.

New Mechanic: Debuff Resist Stacks

The main change we think should help improve strategy surrounding debuffs, and should also improve clarity for the player as to how and when debuffs are resisted. A new stackable element called "Resist" will appear on some enemies and heroes, and each stack of Resist will block one incoming debuff. So, you'll need to work through the stacks to apply debuffs to resistant enemies, but the old random resistance mechanic has been removed.

New Mechanic: Attribute Cap

The other big change is that attributes are now capped at 500% of their base value. This should help curb some runaway attributes for certain heroes and some enemies that can scale exceptionally large over time. When you reach a cap on an attribute, it will be displayed with an asterisk next to it.

The full changelog for this patch is below. Note that these changes are ONLY in the beta branch, and not in the main stable branch right now. We'll move this patch over to the stable branch reasonably soon, however, after some testing.

  • Changed status resistance to use a resist stack based system, instead of a RNG based system, to help improve and clarify strategy around debuffs
  • Attributes are now capped at 500% of their base value after adjustments from relics and effects, to avoid certain runaway buff effects
  • Added most relevant skill type icon to skill list in battle to easily pick out spells vs attacks, etc
  • Skill name display in battle will now show relevant skill icon as well, so you can see the skill type of enemy skills being used
  • Removed extraneous popup menu on skills that don't need it when clicking for details in the skills menu, to streamline skill training a bit
  • Ambush skill (Assassin, Caveman, Lizardman, Marine, Pioneer) will stay active and no longer expire when a passive skill activates
  • Added a counter attack status icon for certain enemies who counter attack specific attack types
Bug Fixes

  • Fixed skills and relics menus not allowing training/binding in Singularity mode when selected directly with the mouse from the map "face" menu
  • Fixed Sovras' (Necromancer) downed animation not playing when downed while Death Shroud is active
  • Fixed possible crash related to Kiara's (Banshee) Possession skill
  • Fixed Kiara's (Banshee) Fade and Manifestation skill effects being able to proc while she is downed
  • Fixed cursor sound not playing when selecting target characters in battle with mouse
  • Fixed possible crash related to Samuel's (Lawbringer) Lawman skill
  • Fixed displayed position of Will-o-Wisp sprite after it has been shifted by a skill
  • Fixed minor display issue on relics menu when unequipped list had 10 or more items
  • Fixed minor display issue when an icon appears as the first element of a word-wrapped text line
  • Some typo fixes
