The Competition Update (0.2.6)

With our new update we come a big step closer to our vision of virtual e-sports. In addition to the new features, which we will discuss in more detail below, we will be hosting a major tournament at Gamescom. The Gamescom Cup. We invite all Tower Tag players to take part to win cash and nice prizes.

There will be one tournament each for the Europe region and for the North America region.

Global leaderboard

Based on the ELO algorithm, we have brought a global leaderboard into play. This allows individual players to compare themselves with each other. Since we are still in early access, it is possible that we will change the way we calculate in the near future.


Score progress visualization

From now on you will get a display after every match which shows you your progress in terms of global score and EP level.


Play with more bots (co-op)

If you want to play together with your friends against bots this is now possible. You and your friends have to join a team together. The other team must remain free. If you then choose "Vote For Start Now", the bots will be added automatically.

General patch notes:


ADDED
• Leaderboard for steam users in main menu (viveport WIP)
• Announcer for the tutorial
• Match time duration from 3 up to 10 minutes for custom matches
• Autostart toggle for custom matches
• Info texts when hovering the labels in the custom match UI
• A holo pop up in commendation scene which displays your progress (EP, SCORE, LVL) to you
• Idle detection. A inactive player will be kicked after 2 minutes.
• Reward speaker sounds (Doublekill, Headshot, Snipershot, Payback)

CHANGED
• Oculus Controller now shoot with a trigger treshold value instead of click
• Weapon penalty for holding the gun in tower reacts and releases earlier (blocking shots for 0.25 sec)
• Team changes are possible without a request. You just need to send requests, if the enemy team is full
• Match Time selection in the custom match UI becomse a slider
• Rooms created through Quick Join will start after 2 minutes (was 1.30 before)
• Rooms created with the Custom Match UI will also have a 2 minutes start timer if autostart is enabled
• Renamed "Rank" to "Level" to avoid miss understandings with the rank in the highscore list
• The min count of players per match is now 4. So if you are alone and press "Start Now", then 3 bots will join instead of just 1. If you are 2 players, there will spawn 2 bots instead of 0.
–> if you want to play 1 vs 1 just open a custom room and set max players to 2

FIXED
• After joining a full room and getting kicked again you won't stuck in main menu without pointer anymore
PS: The leaderboard will add you to the ranking table when you login for the first time - so there are just few entries atm, because it just contains players who already logged into the latest version.
PSS: Free TeamChange means : You can get in a room with 4 players, all in the same team and you will play against 4 bots.
