TY2 Build r2920_v077 released on EXPERIMENTAL

Hi all,

A new build of TY2 is now available on EXPERIMENTAL.
There are a <lot> of changes in this build. Many of these are not noticable in terms of what is on screen - but there have been multiple optimizations and performance improvements, which will hopefully mean a much more stable framerate throughout the game!

Additionally, we have hopefully fixed the issue some players were having with the game rendering only in the top left corner of screen, in full screen mode.

Lastly, we've decided to remove the rang shops and replaced them with a bunch of lootboxes. Every kart race you race you've got a chance to earn a lootbox if you beat your best time, or you can purchase the lootboxes for the low, low price of $1.99USD each!

(as this is the internet I will now make sure it's clear that the above is a joke, we have not removed the rang shops, there are no lootboxes to purchase as microtransactions).

Please check out the changes below, and let us know any problems.
At this stage our intention is to finalize the last few audio updates we have planned, update the language translations, then we will be looking to exit Early Access. Once these plans have been finalized, we'll make sure we do a post to let everybody know the timing, what's happening with the price post Early Access, etc (same as we did with TY1).

AUDIO


  • Updated Cass' meteor attack sounds
  • Volume tweaks to various sounds across the game
  • Updates to flame trap sounds
  • Updates to ninja billie sounds - throwing stars now play looping sound while in the air
  • Play SharkAlert sound when shark alerts. (25% chance for silence).
  • Audio now pauses when the game loses focus
  • Removed audio log spamming.


ART


  • Updated all the rang trails to be less 8-bit.
  • Added location names to the whole game
  • Fix for some minimaps that didn't have the correct background color
  • Texture upres for the kelp grass
  • New opal bags

CAMERA


  • Push in the camera fade closer… so TY is less likely to alpha out

CRASHES


  • Fix for grass threading crash

GAMEPLAY


  • Enemies can now attack the Helicopter/sub again.
  • PocketFluffy now makes a splash (visual and sound) when hitting the water during a "flinch"

GRAPHICS


  • Fix for Burramudgee shop objective markers not appearing when running in to town from Bush Rescue
  • Fix grass issue in helicopter minigames - caused by using the same material on 2 different grass types.
  • Improvements to the rendering of the shop prop neon signs
  • Fixes to the water in the first custcene of the game
  • Water reflections now handle view zoom - used by cutscenes and probably if you were looking through a zoom rang at water.
  • Fixes to static batching so that prop groups that need to enable/disable by mission completion work correctly
  • Fix dpi awareness - this will <hopefully> fix the issue people are having with the game only displaying in the top left corner, in certain set ups
  • Fix window displaying twice during msaa creation
  • Fix for grass types that had >1 grass models spawn from the same terrain triangle.
  • Fix rendering so it doesn't static render props that need to be individually modified
  • Removed subdivide from data conversion to the archive. This is always slower on modern hardware because of all the extra state changes drawing more subobjects.
  • Updated opal bag rendering for speed improvements
  • Fixes for lighting/visibility issues related to omnilight and shockwave effects

UI


  • Removed unused option from CameraOptionsScreen - This option was moved into the RaceOptionsScreen that appears when starting a race.
  • Fix for bug where the sound effect that plays when changing the volumes would play once when entering the sound options screen.
  • Fixes to the minimap - fills the whole area now and the map is calibrated correctly for Burramudgee.
  • Fixed bug where switching away from zoomerang while zoomed in, using the rang select wheel, would stay zoomed in.
  • Switch to modern terminology "Left Stick" and "Right Stick" for controllers
  • Fix for minimap North to display correctly in small mode
  • Fixed Swedish credits not being updated last round of changes
