Build 3.00.01

BUILD 3.00.01 RELEASED!

A new minor build is up. See the full changelog.

As previously mentioned in this update, this and all future builds are for The Lyrius Conflict DLC only. So if you are looking for on-going patches to the base (freeware) game, you need to buy the DLC. It's cheap. Don't be cheap. Are you cheap?

WHAT'S NEW

  • Split to v3.0 game engine kernel
  • This DLC is based on the 3.0 game kernel (which includes everything in 2.0), and future updates will reflect this.

If you have the DLC, you will have the new main menu image, and your version number in the lower-right corner will show v3.0 or higher.

If you only have the base (freeware) game, you will see the old main menu image, and your version number in the lower-right corner will show v2.00.02 (the final update to that product).

You will now also see two separate launch options when you try to run the game. The first one runs the freeware game. If you have the DLC, then a second option will be displayed, and which runs the DLC build.
  • On-going cleanup of legacy modules with minor fixes, preparations for the next "big" thing etc
  • Added final main menu image for The Lyrius Conflict DLC
  • All legacy 4:3 resolutions have been deprecated (removed). 1280x720 (720p) is now the default.
  • The INI file can still be edited to force any desired resolution
  • FIXED: Various Frontend issues in Navitron, Tactical, Roster, Miscon

NEW BUILD NUMBERS

As development is now in full swing on the DLC, we have split the builds.

This DLC is based on the 3.0 game kernel (which includes everything in 2.0), and future updates will reflect this.

THE PLAN

In the next six months to final release, there are going to be on-going fixes, tweaking etc to the underlying game engines.

During that time, all the new content (art, models, terrain textures, fx etc) will be replaced with the more recent ones. As most of this content cannot be used in the current legacy game engine, once the game, graphics, space & planetary terrain engines have been updated, the replacements will start being implemented.

Because of the critical nature of upgrading the aforementioned engines, at some point, there will be a huge gap between updates; and some of those updates will have various features disabled, or just plain broken. But as this DLC is a separate add-on, if this happens, you can uninstall the DLC, and still be able to play the base game. Then when things are back to normal, you can just re-install the DLC. All this can be done from within the Steam interface, and no messing with patches and such.
