Demo Update 3

Hey, everyone!

I got some fixes and adjustments pushed to the demo.

Changes

  • Removed the "Respawn at last saved point" option in the death menu and replaced it with "Retry". When you select retry you will be placed outside of the encounter you died on allowing you to quickly try again. The downside is you incur a death which will negatively impact your score at the end.
  • Blocking an enemy attack now inflicts some stagger damage on the enemy. The amount of stagger damage inflicted varies based off the enemy's attack. Overall the amount of stamina consumed to block attacks from enemies up until Wyatt Park has been lowered. A new tutorial popup has been added to reinforce the ability to block and its new changes.
  • The flashlight can now be toggled on and off whenever you want and will no longer turn on and off automatically. Additionally, the flashlight has been made brighter with a wider angle. While not in the game yet, in the full game enemies will react positively or negatively to the light being on which will add another layer to combat strategy. A new tutorial popup has been added when picking up the flashlight.
  • The interaction system has been improved to prioritize interactions that you are looking at (closer to the center of the screen) if you have multiple interactions around you.
  • Switching weapons through the quick action menu while not in combat will no longer trigger a reload animation
  • While wearing the Tech Glasses accessory you can now additionally see the enemy's remaining stagger duration

Fixes/Adjustments

  • Fixed an issue where an ammo pickup on Despair that would respawn when re-entering the area
  • Some enemies attack you outside of their normal action timing if you get close. Clingers, for example, will try to swipe at you. A short cooldown was added between these proximity based attacks to make sure that if you block one it won't immediately start into a second attack.
  • Fixed an issue that could have the pool of blood that spawns during the boss encounter could grow outside its intended size
  • Fixed an issue where loading a game after dying wouldn't get rid of the red screen overlay
  • Fixed a collision issue at the fence in Wyatt Park where you could walk through it
  • Fixed an issue where if you took a break at a rest area, saved and then loaded your game, you could bypass the enemy respawn
  • Fixed an issue where the boss would despawn after dying on Despair difficulty
  • Improved the transition speed from ending a traversal action (vaulting, crawling) to make them feel a bit faster
